Golden West Cafe

The other day I was taking a stroll down The Avenue with my girlfriend when I found myself to be hungry. We were strolling around looking into shops for useful new household appliances. During that adventure, we came across a restaurant called The Golden West Café. I was in the mood for something new and I had only noticed this building in passing, but never looked twice to see what it was before. Thanks to my curiosity (or hunger) I pushed the doors open.

I heard the sound of those familiar bells one hears when walking around to different stores. Looking around the café at first site was interesting. The Golden West Café has a lot of decorations hanging from their walls, ceiling, and shelves. They also had a lot of trees and plants, not to mention an array of trippy tapestries.

The hostess greeted us and led my girlfriend to a booth before I could say “this place looks like it doesn’t serve meat, let’s get out of here.” I wasn’t just in a mood for a great meat style sandwich, but restaurants that do not serve meat are not places I enjoy. Nothing against themed restaurants that only serve one type of food, but places that do not serve meat are just weird in my opinion. Sorry PETA.

I follow the hostess and girlfriend to the booth where two menus were placed. I noticed that the menus were hand made from old album covers; mine was the album Dead Flowers by The Rolling Stones. I thought that the idea of making a menu out of old album covers was clever, so I decided that even if they did not serve meat, I would still give this place a try. And I am glad that I did.

My girlfriend ordered a bison burger and I ordered a BLT; they had meat. Both of these were delicious. The BLT hit the spot in all of the right ways; they even added some guacamole to the sandwich that brought out a whole new way of enjoying that classic dish. Both meals came with a side order of chips or fries that complimented our lunch.

The Golden West Café was a great place to sit down and grab a bite. The food was very good and those variety of decorations I mentioned before actually became a topic of a lot of conversations. What I am saying is, guys, it’s a great place to take a date because there is so much to talk about. Everyone knows talking during a date is the make it or break it of that evening. Not to mention, it is not an expensive place to eat.
