Starbucks is Open for Business
December 10, 2009
You heard right. Construction is over. Frappucinos are being whipped. Coffee’s being dripped. And the line of patrons is waiting for you to wait in it.
The Starbucks on campus opened today at 7:30 a.m. in the University Center next to Chick Fil-A. Be sure to check it out for yourself!
Expect a review on the blog in the spring!

So far so good at the Starbucks. Just beware that the line will be horribly long for the next month or do due its “newness”. Expect a 15-20 minute wait for anything but drip coffee. Remember how bad the Chick-Fil-A lines were last January? So If your in a rush before you next class best to go to the Admin Cafe are ABP.
SMILE TO US WHEN WE’RE BUYING COFFEE, PLEASE!
Don’t act like you doing us a favor!
I know that some Starbucks branches are kosher…is this one one of them?
If you don’t like the lines, don’t forget about Pura Vida in the library… everything they sell is fair trade, meaning, the coffee farmers get paid fair wages and the coffee business in their community doesn’t ruin their children’s lives, basically.
I went to starbucks and waited 15 minutes for my White Chocolate Mocha and sped off to class. When I tasted my coffee it tasted like CRAP. I was soo upset it tasted like soy had no espresso and wasn’t even stirred. I wish they had brought in a few trained employees to show these guys the ropes
HORRIBLE SERVICE! It’s not their fault…they haven’t had a proper training. I’d rather they open starbucks when the workers can actually make the drinks and do it in a reasonable time span rather than opening it now and having everyone wait 30 mins for a dang on cup of coffee. This guy way ahead of me only ordered a shot yet he had to wait like the rest of us…everyone waiting starts to get annoyed. The manager just stands to the side looking at the workers when they are clearly moving as slow as possible the manager can’t even step in to help or motivate them. This is a FAIL.
For realz, though, can the employees be more friendly? I mean, they takin’ my money, so it’s not like I owe them shit!
Smile??!! With some of our students on here, I can see how it would be hard to smile.. I’d prefer a serious face and fast service over the employees smiling at some of the rude, ignorant, annoying students on this campus (i’d say its less than 50% of us, but I seem to always run into them when im in line and notice them forgetting to use phrases like “please, thank you, or excuse me..”)
By, the way, I think it was morally irresponsible for our college to allow Starbucks on campus.. Half of the students on here have poor eating habits, and now, they’ll be wasting money on coffee rather than a meal. Why not something a little along the lines of a Panera, Atlanta Bread Company, Potbelly, or Boston Market? I’m sure someone has a reason or two to answer this question.. (it wont be hard to make an excuse.. so, lets hear your most creative..)
dude… it’s just starbucks. yay for paying 4 times normal prices for a cup of coffee or other drink… not that their drinks are bad… but you have to admit that they’re overpriced for what they are. there are so many better things that they could’ve put on campus.

Because you can’t stay up all night to study (pfft…) for finals after consuming Boston Market. Although, aren’t there already two coffee places on campus? It’s not exactly a big campus…the walk from the Starbucks to the Commons is nothing, I don’t see the reason for having both.
What do you guys expect? The service every where on campus is absolutely horrible. I waited for 15 minutes for coffee at Au Bon Pain when I was the only person in line. I swear the woman was trying to see how slowly she could move. At least when I went to Starbucks the girl at the register acted decently towards me. I waited 15 minutes for cafe latte, but it was really busy and the coffee tasted fine.
The employees at Starbucks surely must be nicer than the Dragon lady (with the glasses) at Pura Vida Cafe in the Library. She is always angry, speaks really rudely to people, and takes sooo long just to make a simple cup of coffee.
I haven’t had a chance to try the new starby’s. any chance they have the great food selection of some of the others? ie pasta salads, cheese trays, sandwiches, mozzerella caprese, etc. if not, well, im not totally clear as to why they opened, the carmel macchiatto at pure vida is just as good as starbucks AND fair trade as was pointed out above. perhaps b/c the starbucks will be open later than the pure vida to help those late night studies???
